  • Keep us informed, you will be in our prayers for sure..  God Be with you and never give up the ship...  That is what we do.  God Bless.
  • James, sorry I didn't answer quicker..have had friends visiting from SC.  He was our pastor 15 years ago and we became good friends.  He is also a retired QMCS, SS.  I still have many more good days than bad days. Next month I have an appt to get a C-Scan at the VA Hospital and then take the disc over to my surgeon at Sanford Hospital (both in Fargo).  I really want to see where I am with this meso and hear his latest estimate.  Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers,  Yours in Christ, Don
  • Hey Chief, let us know how you are doing..  Chief McDowell, we are your shipmates and care. May you have fair winds and following seas..
  • Jim Ward, I left a message for Chief McDowell as well. He's been on the site just not on this group much.
  • Can't remember the CC name but he was a Chief Machinist and red hash marks, so the good conduct wasn't there but he was straight with us.
  • Well if it continues as is, you should be getting a boat load.  The Pineapple express hit Ca last week and is heading your way. With another hitting Calif now.  On the plus side we just shipped off a storm to Calif, so they should be getting it in a week or so.

Never did like the snow.  Started as Age 6 shoveling the dirve way and then stoking the coal burner for the house. Looking back, it is a good experience, but hated being cold. Hopefully you get the snow you need.

  • Haven't heard anything. I hope it's just that he does not sign on here often!

Not much snow up here yet! Which is not good since I have a ski lodge up here!

  • Jim, have you heard from Chief Donald McDowell?   Sent a few messages and haven't heard back.

Noticed you are at Lake George NY.  Been there, Grew up on Long Island and used to go there in the summer time. Now live Maui and no snow.  Ah, I guess the Tropics just got in the blood when I went to Westpac.

    Jim

  • It's amazing how after all these years the image of that Company Commander is still clear! I can barely remember some old girlfriends! Luckily, we had a top notch CC that never ceased to inspire! I felt his boot on my butt once and that was all that was needed! Too bad the Navy didn't clone that Chief!
  • Aug - Oct '61 Company 357, Company Commander Terrible Tores MMC.  I understand we were his first and last recruit Company.  He came in on Sunday morning a couple times Drunk, and gave us "Hell".  I liked him.
