  • ahhhhhhhh yes, great lakes, was there in the winter of "71", company 439, coldest time i was ever in. our company commander was a great guy, chief martin. miss all the guys i was there with. some of us went on to the same duty stations and training. we left great lakes after graduation and went on to nas memphis for plane captain school, we were there like 2 months after graduation there we got our first 30 day leave then it was on to nas queonset pt, and anti submarine squadron 30.

  • I went through Great Lakes in Feb 1964 and talk about cold and blowing snow. Like to freeze to death waiting in line for morning chow. Dark, cold, snow up to your butt. It really did suck at the time.

  • Was at RTC,Great Lakes 11/65-12/65. Dam cold wating in long line for breakfast, but was never so hungry in my life!

  • I had the pleasure of going to boot camp at Great Lakes from June 1974 to Nov. 1974. Company 160

  • Feb 24, 1978 to May 1 1978 Company 44.  CC was Singalman Lykins, and QM2 Gomez. Mashed our As??? all the time! Through my sea bag and bedding out the 3rd story window because I left a towel hanging on my rack! I hated that place! Busted my knees up, got sick as hell but never got setback and retired as AFCM in March 2000.

  • Happened to catch pneumonia there and got laid up for a week.. Started out it Company 190 and finished with 205. ASMO Central, Here I come ...

  • I still have scares on both my heals from blisters I got during boot camp there,36 years ago!!
