  • LMAO Stick.... we did that one too in Swim Training...lol. We did the flutter kicks, laying on your stomach, raise your arms and legs and wave them up and down until the CC said to stop. That was by far the most painful exercise I've ever done in my life. The shark sounds like it's almost the same thing. You forced some cool memories on the swim training too. It was given by the Seals, and THAT"S when we learned how mean they could be to a bunch of recruits...LOL. I laughed at one of my buddies that did a belly flop, and JUST at the right time, a Seal was standing behind me wearing one of those thin metal hard hats, and he BOPPED me on the back of the head with it! DAMN that hurt. But I shut up too....lol.
  • Hmm never did the SHARK...or the FLUTTER kicks...we did have to show we could swim...like taking 2 steps off a tower...I'm guessin 10 to maybe 15' off the deck of the pool...butt nekked..cross arms and legs..especially the legs...otherwise it was called a NUTTBUSTER...
  • Happy Veterans Day to all
  • The SHARK is like flutter kicks. You lay on your stomach and raise your arms and legs up and start swimming
  • You'll have to explain the shark, I hadn't heard of that one,, but it could be something like the flutter kicks by the sound of it. lol
  • Anyone remember "SHARK" those hurt
  • YES!!!....A VERY Happy Veteran's Day to us ALL! The pride runs deep and it's such an honor to be a part of such a select group of people, here in this site as well as all of our backgrounds that we all lived through.
It's great to hear from you Bud. It's funny how we forget some minor little things, would you believe that I forgot about the black pen for the shirts???? I mainly remember the white ones until you mentioned it...LOL. Have a great Holiday!!!!! And best of luck to you Airman Johnson. Keep your stories coming when you have time.
P.S. I didn't get to puke, but I sure did get to witness some people going for DISTANCE! LMAO.
Just remembered one more thing.......FLUTTER KICKS! Oh The PAIN of it all!!!!!!!!!!!
  • happy vets day, to us all.
  • Dan, I remember the "junk on the bunk", "the smoke and cokes"? I remember the first one we got, 10 mins of pleasure followed by getting mashed and running till we "Puked". The CC's thought it was funny. We too had to stenicle our stuff with those ink pencil's. White ones for our pant's and black ones for our shirt's. I Remember even if you did tie you socks to the belt loops of your pant's, they still sometimes didn't come back.
  • Hi Airman Johnson. It's so cool to hear your stories. Don't stop them...lol. It helps the rest of us to remember things we forgot a long time ago.
The "nuke test" as you call it......we called it "junk on the bunk", and it was NOT a pretty sight.....ROFL. What great memories. We didn't have the pen thing around the neck deal that you mentioned and I can't remember if there was some other process in place for signing everything under the sun, but maybe someone else may remember more about that. Remember the "smoke and cokes"?? That was a time that we cherished each day. A break from everything for about 10 minutes at a time..lol. Also, we had the lockers that were in between each bunk that you could barely fit anything into. I remember being really good at polishing shoes for inspection, and I made a few extra bucks polishing shoes for others.....lol. One thing I remember was an ink pencil that they issued us to mark all of our clothing. we didn't have a stamp of any kind. They managed to waste an entire day to train us to use the pens and mark our items. We had to shake them to get them started and then they would self feed as you wrote. We also looked pretty ridiculous tying all of our socks to our belt loops so that we didn't loose them in the wash.
Thanks for forcing some memories, even the bad ones are good anymore..LOL.
