  • not sure how this will fit in,, but here is my story,, well at least part of it lol.
    flew out of sac cali to great mistakes,, we got off the plane a few of us, not knowing anything a few others grouped together as it was a great adventure for us.
    some us wanted our last smoke,, cigg that if,,, but we felt the need to check in first thinking that we would be able to to leave till we offically checked in lol.
    once we checked in there at at the airport, that was the end of all things,, seems we was on the first flight in,, so we had to stay and rack out on the floor for what seemed 36 hours, but was only 12 hours,,
    not knowing what was to become of us no one slept, no food, no water, even if we asked for it,, we was told to get back where we was
    so we eventually we all got on a bus,, seems they wanted to wait till there was enough of us to make the trip worth the bus ride, lol
    no sleep on the bus ride, as none of us had any any idea as to what was going to happen.
  • I started boot camp Feb 17, 1964. Company 57, CC was J.D. Byrum MM1,
    graduated Apr 21, 1964. From there went on to Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes.

    I arrived at CAMP BARRY Mar.6 1962...NOT 1965


    MARCH 6th 1962...Arrived at Camp Barry...4:00AM...It started when the SERVICE WEEKS were yelling "Everbody SHUT *** **** up and go to sleep...for like an hour...6:00AM revellie goes off...SERVICE WEEKS were yellin same words as before but were telling us to get up..
    And it was all downhill from there...Snow on the ground...colder n tinkers tookus in Tuepelo..

  • I arrived at Great Lakes on November 3, 1965. I was a member of Company 698. Our CC was SM1 M.S. McDonald. Our staff was: RPOC: K. Brody; EPO: L. Ofenlock; FIRST PLATOON LEADER: R. Morton; MAA: J. Walsh; & COMPANY CLERK: E. Costantino. We graduated on January 20, 1966.
  • I went thru boot camp in june 1958,so long ago i do not remember company #,cc was mm1 short.in 20 yrs i never ran across him.john b atkinson.en1/c ret.
  • i was at Great Lakes from july 88 to sept 88 CO. 214 , was in seaman app.
    school until oct 88 then got orders to th uss leader mso-490 out of charleston, south carolina, but first came fire fighting school in norfolk,va.
  • I was at RTC Great Lakes from Jan 87 to March 87. Company 025 and CC was EM1 Alvin
  • I was at RTC Great Lakes from April 77 to July 77. Company 105 and the CC was 1st Class PO Moser.
  • I got to basic June 5th 1978 company 106 I thought it was a blast. I also started EM A school there but later gave it up to attend Postal School and become a PC.
