Naval Training Center San Diego 1976
My name is Phil Mercuri. I was assigned to company 130 and was Squad Leader #4. Is there anyone out there who was part of my company. Our Flag Bearer's name was Hillary Wong. Unfortunately, I do not remember anyone else. Though I do believe there was on other individual named Ace Goodman. I could be wrong.

Ronald,
Have been there quite a few times as we go to San Diego frequently.Saw it being developed and toured the new housing(condo's.) They have kept the look. Glad they kept the Recruit looking good by the areas around it. Was aboard her during basic. Brings back memories as we drive through, picture the company on the parade grounds and so forth. Was an experience and visiting brings it all back.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 62 YEARS I SLEPT AT THE TRAINING CENTER AT THE HOTEL MARRIOT AT A AREA CALL" LIBERTY STATION" AT THE SOUTH WEST CORNER OF THE CENTER. ABOUT 200 FEET FROM THE USS RECRUIT. I WAS NEVER ABOARD THE RECRUIT AS I WAS SHIPPED OUT EARLY DUE TO KOREAN WAR STARTING. I THINK THIS IS WHERE THE OLD FIREFIGHTING SCHOOL WAS. ALONG THE CHANNEL WHERE WE HAD WHALE BOAT RACES. THEY HAVE DONE A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF RETAINING THE LOOK. THE GRINDERS WERE MADE INTO PARKS AND PARKING LOTS. THE OLD BARRACKS AND MESS HALLS ARE GONE. A LOT OF NEW CONDOS OR APARTMENTS A MEDICAL CLINIC SHOPS AND A COUPLE MARKETS. THE GOLF COURSE IS STILL THERE. BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES
Earl,
Think you will be surprised. Many changes have taken place but it still brings back memories.
I was at NTC June to September of '67 in Company 4007, the Bluejacket Choir. Going to San Diego in September, and looking forward to seeing what is left of the place. I've been on Google, so I know there's not a lot.
