  • Thanks Bill. I just happened to "stumble" across your site the other day. So I thought, What the heck! Might be fun as well as useful. I am a member of TogetherWeServed as well as VASVW. I will try to get a picture of myself up, as soon as I find one that doesn't look like a prison mug shot! Most folks call me Mitch, so that's what usually gets my attention. But George will do , too. Anyway, talk to ya later. Take Care & again thanks for letting me join.
    Mitch

  • Thank you for this site. I am hoping that I will be able to find some of my old shipmates. Never know where a Sailor will show.
  • Bill,

The only ships I ever served aboard were amphibs and I wasn't a true member of ship's company as I was a guest via the USMC. I will still check it out in hopes I can find someone with whom I served. Thanks.
  • Just descovered this web sight- It is good to see many names I had good memories of. I was in VA-85 1979-81. I was a "roof rat" "line puke" "dirt shirt" Line division. There were some wild times! I have talked to only a few of the boys sence I got out, such as Chuck Kunkel, Mitch Miller, and Hillbilley (Steve Grogan). There are so many more I would like to communicate with! I also have talked and visited wiyh Bob Fregeau( Power Plants) over the years but have sence lost track of him. I hope to find these guys and anyone who servived the adventures of the FID
  • Thanks for the welcome.
  • Thank you. I was named after my great uncle William Jefferson Karr of Stanberry, Missouri. Any chance we are from the same German-Irish lineage??? I am also the executive director of an organization developing a retreat and wellness center in Northern California that will include a program to help vets heal from posttraumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. I could really use some help with networking our site and mission. I am currently headed across the country to share the mission of this organization and have our travel itinerary posted on our website at www.incopah.com
  • Thank you! I will try that.
