I just found this web site not too long ago too.
Sounds like you were arriving in WestPac just as I was completing my second deployment. (Naha, Okinawa.) I know we flew our P-3s into the Tokyo area during that time.
Japan was a wondeful experience. Did you ever get to areas outside of the Tokyo region? Northern Japan is like the northeast and northwest U.S. (Except for the earthquakes and nuclear meltdowns.)
