I worked officers ward, P-13 (night duty), had drivers license so pulled duty Ambulance and food carts, worked ER and dirty surgery as well as paternity. We were left short handed when the Cuban Crisis took place consequently every corpsman and Wave worked all over. It was nuts.
The last year I was in supply division. That was also where the optical department was located. IBM computers came into use in supply and I was offered to train for the company as we started using the system that year. I wasn't interested so refused the training. Considering the direction computers took, it may not have been my wisest decision.
Did you come to Newport with a guy who was a surfer and lived on the beach before he came in the Navy.
Are you from California ?
Not sure but I think I know you from Newport
