Just checking in.... I wonder if any of you also found your files were lost. I've never received my benefits do to a supposed fire in the mail files center. Am I really the only service member to have received no benefits?
its pretty frustrating. I was active 3 years and 9 months, plus 2 years reserve status, yet according to the Navy, I never existed.
oh well! I hope the rest of you had better luck.

Was stationed at NAVY HOSP NEWPORT from Dec 85-Dec86. I worked female medicine and also ARD(drug and alch rehab). Had great time there met some great people and had some great times. Was Discharged from the Navy there after a heart condition was discovered.

I worked also with LTJG Griffith, she was Ensign when I met her. We worked newborn nursery. Was there when the hospital was quarantined because of an outbreak of meningitis, one case in the nursery. We had close to 40 newborns in the nursery at the time. Lost track of her and Lois Chorie, a civilian nurse that also worked newborn nursery. I left August 66 went green side, 1st Mar Div. RVN.

I was stationed at the Newport Naval Hospital from 1-66 to 9-67. I worked general med ward the ER and P13 physic ward. .My last six months working in CSR was great.. Some of the people I worked with are LTJG Ethel Griffith LTJG Battina Holder . Also DR Farmer in P13 and miss brooks in the OR..I cant not forget my first commanding officer in CSR LTCMDR Kalyin They and many others are all dedicated people
Worked on ward E and in the cast room for Capt Brown and Lcdr Dewal.
Stationed at USNH#3 after Vietnam in October 1967. Initially assigned as LPO of the ENT Clinic. Worked that section for a year and the was assigned as the Nursing Service Detail Petty Officer. Last assignment was as a MAA in Food Service. The work was great, the hours were horrible. Got married in the Chapel by the Sea in January 1969 to a girl from New Bedford, MA. Newport was a great tour of duty except for one bump in the road which was the Chief Nurse that I worked for. I took my wife up to Newport several years ago and found that the hospital grounds were torn down except for the old main building.
Stationed at USNH Newport after Corps School at Balboa NH from fall 1971- fall 1973. Worked mostly in Ortho ward-E but did work in almost all of the wards as needed. Made E-4 and was senior corpsman for ward E. Got to drive admiral Zumwalt and secretary Warner around Newport when they were there for some CNO conference with allied nations. Did work for Captain Murray for about a month when her assistant ( Commander ) went on leave. During that time, I got the hospital to issue tech jackets to ward corpsman and not get crud all over our jumpers and also ( proud of this) not to have to wear covers on base when wearing tech jacket. ( no saluting that sob from personal) Did fall for Mary Pat Mullen, but she married some guy in med school when she went home for X-mas. Went back to Newport in 1995 to seen old hospital grounds before they were torn down.
Stationed there from 1959 - 1961. Started in dirty surgery and the ER, then worked P-13 (NP locked ward) until I left for NP School in 1961. Most memorable experiences were Ike's summer white house and the festival riots in 1960. I remember Dr. Stanley Walzer (Psychiatrist), HM3 Pam Loomis (senior corpsman of ICU), and Fred Hartmann (NP Tech). Haven't been back since - I would like to take my wife to see Newport.
