Hi Gilbert, I was on the Vancouver from Jan 71 until my release from active duty in Nov 72. I was LSE on flight deck. I see you also served on LPD 10. How did it compare to old No. 2? I am trying to comment to all the Vancouver sailors registered on this site. so far I've found five of us. Check out the Vancouver command page and maybe leave a comment. David
Hi Gilbert,
About RTC Co. 002 - I started bootcamp the following Feb. 14th. The company numbers were up in the 60's by then; ours was Co. 067
We did get a couple of guys that had been knocked flat by flu and/or pneumonia. One was a guy by the name of Larry Lingo, who I'm pretty sure had originally been in your Co. 002. - He'd had a few weeks in when he became ill, and was turned out to be a really squared away recruit.
All the best to you,
Paul Walker
