I deployed to the Gulf onboard the USS Dubuque LPD-8 with a Marine Air Ground Task Force embarked. We also provided support to the MSO Ops. Anyone else?

I was aboard the USS Lynde McCormick DDG-8. The lynde along with a FFG, provided the 15 min warning prior to firing the 5". We under the command of CDR Etnyre (then), recently retired 4 star from surfaces forces. Praying Mantis was the real deal and whereI was awarded my first Combat Action ribbon. "DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME" Retired Mustang.
On board USS Wm. H. Standley CG32 1987 between Stark & Vincennes in Persain Gulf shoot down. Vincennes was right, 'You Don't Get Starked' at that time in the gulf! 14 Earnest Will Escorts in & out of the Strait of Hormuze(spl). Nobody had heard of the 'Persain Gulf Conflict' til 1990 when Army & Air Force was in. It was a USN & USMC problem til then. Shipmate BT3 RK
