I enlisted in the Navy in 1964 in Marshalltown, Iowa. I spent 25+ years in the Navy retiring as a Master Chief Postal Clerk. I live in Pennsylvania, but will always be an Iowan. I still go back a couple of times a year to visit family
Enlisted in Des Moines, 1972 Discharged in Norfolk, VA, 1976 There were 3 other guys from Iowa in my boot camp company. The day we graduated our CC told us that an All-Iowa company was being commissioned the following Monday!
Man has it been hot here this summer!! I am so glad for the break in the heat this coming week. My lawn is so fried but am happy not to have to mow so much. There were a few days I thought I was in Florida again with how high the humidity got.
Born in Des Moines served from January 1959 to October 1965. Currently living in Arizona. Chaplin for VASVW(Blue water sailors of Vietnam.) Was assigned to HQCO 1st Marines as quartermaster and served sometime in Vietnam during mapping and support. Glad to find an Iowa Forum.

I am in Glendale AZ and you don't know hot until you live here. Yesterday it was a record 116. If my calling was not here I would be elsewhere.

I did a gig in the PI at Sangley Point and did supply runs to Subic and Clark. Anyone serve there around 62 or 63?

Born in Red Oak,Iowa. In the service from July 1962 to May 1966. I live in Georgia.
