  • I was an honorary member of HM-14's Chiefs Mess. My husband, AOCS Scott Reis, in pic w/me, retired from HM-14 in August 2000. I was the Admin Chief in HC-2, whose hangar was right across the parking lot from HM-14's hangar. Good duty station for both of us.

I was with the ACM Department (Sled Crew) at HM-14 from 1984 to 1987. Was supposed to make a Wespac Cruise with the USS Tripoli but ended up going up and down the California coast and then live on a berthing barge while they repair the ship (building 10 as we called the ship because it had a hard time leaving the pier).Then the following year we were supposed to go to Nova Scotia and got re-routed to the Red Sea to sweep mines. Then a crew of 10 got volunteered to get re-routed to Saudi Arabia…
