SEVEN STEPS IN BEGINNING

A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

A GUIDE FOR BELIEVERS  REACHING SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Chaplain Jerry BallardUSNRet

1.
Declare Openly to yourself and to others that you

have been Born Again

JOHN 3:3

Jesus answered and
said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God.

I AM SAVED

ROMANS 10:8-10

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and
in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For
by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift
of God:

Not
of works, lest any man should boast.

Matthew 10:32-33

32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I
confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny
before my Father which is in heaven.

2. Recognize: Christ now lives in me.

Revelation 3:20

20 Behold, I stand at
the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come
in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me

nbsp 20nbsp behold door knock hear voice open door nbsp

Galatians 2:20

20 I am crucified with
Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved
me, and gave himself for me.

3.
Accept the fact that I am now a new Person in

Christ

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore if any
man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new.

4.
I am committed to Grow in the grace and knowledge of
Christ

2 Peter 3:18

18 But grow in grace,
and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both
now and for ever. Amen.

HOW TO GROW BY HIS WORD

1 Peter 2:2

As newborn babes,
desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

BY PRAYER

Matthew 6:9-13

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:6

But thou, when thou
prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy
Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward
thee openly.

Ephesians 6:18

18 Praying always with
all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints;

BY MEMORIZING HIS WORD AND HIDDING IT
IN YOUR HEART

Psalm 119:11

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I
might not sin against you

Jeremiah 15:16

Your words were found, and I ate them, and your
words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your
name, O Lord
God of hosts.

Psalm 37:31

The law of his God is in his heart; his steps
do not slip
.

BY MEETING OTHER BELIEVERS FOR WORSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP

Matthew 18:20

20 For where two or
three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Hebrews 10:25

25 Not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one
another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

BY SHARING MY FAITH WITH OTHERS

Acts 1:8

But ye shall
receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the
uttermost part of the earth.

1 Peter 3:15

15 But sanctify the
Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man
that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

BY MINISTERING

Discover
and use your Spiritual Gifts that the Holy Spirit gave you.

2 Timothy 1:6

Wherefore I put
thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the
putting on of my hands.

John 15:16

16 Ye have not chosen
me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth
fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the
Father in my name, he may give it you

5.
I AM COMMITTED TO TURNING AWAY FROM ALL

THAT I KNOW IS SIN

Hebrews 12:1

12 Wherefore seeing we
also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside
every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with
patience the race that is set before us,

6.
I AM PREPARED TO FIGHT AGAINST SATAN

Hebrews 12:1

(Same Verse as above)

12 Wherefore seeing we
also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside
every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with
patience the race that is set before us

1 Peter 5:8-9

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a
roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same
afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves
therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

7.
WHEN AWARE THAT I HAVE FALTERED, I WILL

FOLLOW THE SCRIPTURAL INSTRUCTION GIVEN

IN:

1 John 1:9

If we confess our
sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.

Ask
God (and others I have wronged) for Forgiveness

Then
Get Up and get going with the Lord

If
you are one here who does not know Christ, please understand that God loves
you. He gave himself for you on the cross for you.

Salvation
Prayer

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I
acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life
that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on
the cross at
Calvary and died for my
sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and
believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that
God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my
own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I
thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always
leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring
glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.

Amen.
