  • when was the old air force hosp with all of the covered ramps torn down?

  • I remember your name and do remember CAPT Powell, and few of those names too. I did a little stint in the print shop the second tour, making name tags with an HM2 Dave Martin. I remember Stover's name too. I'm 63 now, and of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most (LOL). Right before I left the second time in 1979 I picked up 1st class (heading to IDT in Portsmouth).  I have a pic in my present office of my frocking (there was only 4 of us) and the Captain was James Zimble.  He ended up being the Surgeon General later down the line and then the President of the Uniformed Services University (USUHS).  Alas he passed away in 2011 Great man!

  • Oh, just remembered, Captain Powell, pictured below, must have been presenting my promotion to HM2 or something, but he's the only CO I can remember off the top of my head.....

  • Randall Bruns; should remember you, but I'm old!  We were at Naval Hospital/NRMC Orlando at virtually the same time. I got there, I think, (memory thing), around June of '75, and left April '79. First duty was the Pediatric Ward. Marian McGlasson was the civilian RN in charge of the ward. Wonderful lady. Trying my darndest to remember names; of course who could forget CMDR Marcotte?  Remember an HM3 Stover on the ward....only name that pops right now. I remember Chief Ron White, a chief Callicutt.   Worked in Operations Management, in the Print Shop for a while. Then Patient Affairs. Ended in the EKG Clinic. Never got the opportunity to work on the RTC side. Lived in housing out at McCoy, on Mariners Court my whole tour, except for a few weeks at a Motel when we first got there. Both my kids were born at the Hospital, (January '77 and March '79).  Graduated Great Lakes Corps school the end of May '75, class 7538. Three members of our class came to Orlando with me; William Brothers, Arlie Carson and Robert Hayes. (O.K., cheated on that, looked it up. Memory's not that good really).

  • I remember the covered walk ways ... I was Senior Corpsman on the Psych ward, far side of the hospital across from the chow hall, June  '71 to Aug '72 ... before that, Nov '69 to June 71 assigned to RTC Recruit Evaluation Unit ... lived off base at the del Coronado apts off of West Colonial ave ... took classes at Rollins College at night .. met some people who worked at Disney World and  made many trips to the park for free before it opened to the public.  I miss those days ...  Perlot we had to have crossed paths at some time while you were at the hospital ... probably knew some of the same people ... CMDR Maun was head of the nursing corps, CMDR Galwyn was head of psychiatry ... I graduated corps school in San Diego Feb 1969 ... worked general surgery in Bethesda, did psych training there and then transferred to Orlando

  • Anyone remember Frank Reusche or Linda Schmidt?

  • And if you guys came to chow, I was there making sure you were dressed properly.

  • I worked Out-Patient records when it was in the metal bldg. next to the ER for a few months, then Active Duty Records where Out-Patient records had been, also did EKG Clinic, Acute Minor Care, Allergy Clinic and ended in ER.  I was mainside from Jan '76 to Jan, '79.

  • PS, I looked all over the web for a better shot of the gray ghosts.  Ours never looked as good as the one below.  They were flat haze gray and even though we washed and cleaned them, they NEVER looked that good.
