Enlisted or not! This room is for everyone!

I just thought there should be a place anyone who served at any time at any command could go and throw out a thought, ask a question or gripe!

  • I believe the pecker-checkers called my little cununderum non gonicockal euretheritis.( Probably got that wrong) which turned out to be just a strain of the real thing from a cute little BUTTERFLY GIRL,cause she sure did fly all over the place....I KINDA tuned it down after that close call, until I got to my next command,of course, which was yet another tin can heading off to the far reaches of the Carribbean, but I was a little bit wiser then, and I was a good little sailor ever since...But,hey,it just don't make me no never mind no mo!!

  • I had an LPO who had the same problem, he would fool around in every port overseas and never catch anything, then when the ship was stateside he would get a dose of the clap.

  • I caught pneumonia while on Yankee Station (even thought it had to be 100 degrees!) and the doctor on the ship pumped me full of Penicillin. (Can't remember now if it was a LSD or LPD, each time we were there on a different ship TAD)

About my third day in Sick bay, he told me that I was safe for any activities ashore on our upcoming R&R to the PI!

Hard to believe he said that!

so I was double lucky, also not allergic to Penicillin.

Later on Shore Duty (77 or78) in New Orleans, a shipmate of mine got clap, All the time in those seedy overseas ports and he gets it form a supposedly steady girlfriend stateside!.

  • I was in from 71-75 so I know what was where.

Some of that crap was damn hard to get rid of, too.

  • Doug, I learned the hard way. the one and only time i had penicillin in1952 i had a allergic reaction, welts all over and swelling in various places so have never had it since.

  • Also like James and David, great memories of sitting on the deck, smoking and watching the stars at night (when not at "darken ship").
Quit smoking many years ago, but still like to star gaze....
  • Was lucky, followed my pecker wherever it took me, and never caught anything!
I helped that anything that was "catchable " back then (70-75), was cured with penicillin.
  • Some guys never learn and would follow their pecker into Hell itself for that beloved piece of tail.

If it hurt so bad that you were bending pipes in the head, it wasn't worth the price of admission to me.  Found out I was right.

  • When I was on the Iwo in the mid 80s we had a young airdale who discovered the holy grail in Norfolk.  The first time he was treated for a simple UTI.  The second time for the big G and the third time I saw him for the same symptoms I, unintentionally, took him to the tiny lab we had and while waiting for the lab tech I started messing with the loop used for specimen smears by sticking the loop into the burner/sterilzer and burning small circles on the lab chit.  I had this great idea (at the time) and told the airdale to drop his trousers and put his member in my hand and I told him that since the drugs weren't working  I would have to burn out the infection.  When I had to explain my 'treatment of choice' to his LPO, his Div Off AND my Master Chief and Department Head; lets say the 'love' was not there.  Later on that incident got me many beers from some highly placed senior enlisted onboard.

  • I feel sure that the new ships of today can do what they were designed to do,that is,if the IDIOTS in the District Of Corruption will just TURN 'em LOOSE,and give em a chance to do it.But if the sailors can no longer lounge out on deck, that in itself will begin to erode their morale, but who in DC gives a flying f*&^ about the morale of our  sailors? Seems the powers that be just want to be sure they are all WUSSIFIED! I'll always cherish my memories of my time at sea,but could NOT fit in with today's bunch of...( fill in the blanks here ).

I'm wondering if we can use this forum and not have people get lost!

I have been informed by our CO, Mr Karr that these forums may work a little better than the "comments" section. So, I am going to try an experiment and see if we can do some house cleaning in this command! Excuse me! Sorry, I meant swab the deck!Somehow the comments have reversed themselves and the most recent comments show up at the end instead of the beginning. We have to be supportive of Doug these days as the site seems to be experiencing a growth spurt, which is good!
