Enlisted or not! This room is for everyone!

I just thought there should be a place anyone who served at any time at any command could go and throw out a thought, ask a question or gripe!

  • I was deployed on the Truxtun CGN35 - a nuke cruiser. We were deployed when Chernobyl happened. The "nukes" detected contamination on the air intake screens, however, we did know about what happened in Russia and we were looking for it. A desal plant would not be looking for radioactive contamination. Not even sure the Navy has that capability. They should have found it on the air intake vent screens and been alerted to the possibility of water born contamination.

  • And if you remember Agent Orange would not hurt us.. it was SAFE.. and the check is in the mail...

  • believe me,the BRASS knows what's going on...Pentagon on down...It ALWAYS runs down hill.

  • David,I kinda side with you on this one....It sure looks like a LOT of  CYA  is going on here

  • A nuke ship should have had all kinds of alarms and stuff going off all over the place.  I don't buy this "nobody knew" crapola.

  • I don't think it was any anti American thing, the ship was exposed to the radiation plume from the Fukashima explosion and water contamination. It was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The air conditioning ducts were contaminated and the drinking and showering water and piping also and air filters on some of the planes.

  • Robert, I don't think Asbestos exposure would cause the tumors you describe.  Asbestos usually seats itself in the lungs.

    Thanks Steve, for the agreement.

  • Something is wrong here. I was on the USS Long Beach for 2 and a half years and we NEVER had a radiation problem. We all wore a TLD and had minimal exposure. I agree with David Asche on the anti-American thing.

  • Just read Iodine pills were given to pilots and the rest of the brass, but not the enlisted. 51 sailors have came down with various forms of cancer, so far.

  • A nuke ship should ALWAYS have tests for radiation and all that stuff.  Don't know why this is happening after all the nuke ships we have had since the fifties.  Even the Enterprise has not had any problems after all these years.  I suspect foul play in this.  Best check the people in charge of handling that stuff to see if there are any anti-American sailors in the bunch.

I'm wondering if we can use this forum and not have people get lost!

I have been informed by our CO, Mr Karr that these forums may work a little better than the "comments" section. So, I am going to try an experiment and see if we can do some house cleaning in this command! Excuse me! Sorry, I meant swab the deck!Somehow the comments have reversed themselves and the most recent comments show up at the end instead of the beginning. We have to be supportive of Doug these days as the site seems to be experiencing a growth spurt, which is good!
