  • MM"A" School. Reported aboard USNTC GLakes 4 Sep 1956. After a short stint of temporary duty, reported to SSC to attend "A" School, then transferred for sea duty 10 April 1957. Never shoveled so much snow in all my short live, before or after GLakes. At least I didn't go to the fleet as just an "FA", I was an "MMFA", and proud of it.

  • I went to EN "C" school in 1962 and to IT "C" school in 1967
  • Since the official Service School Command does not exist anymore (it was consolidated into the new Naval Service Training Command) I thought I would create a group where former Instructors could post their comments.

    I taught at ET'A' School from 1991 - 1993 in the Communications Phase. I made Master Training Specialist (MTS) and ended my tour as the Curriculum Manager for Communications.

The TD detachment at SSC/NTC Great Lakes 1978-1979

In 1978 I was a TD-2 assigned with the TD detachment at the Gas Turbine School where the Perry Class FFG engine room trainer was located. The TD's were required to check the locks on every door in the building and make sure all of the interior lights were off after hours. I received training by DEC on the DEC PDP 11/70 msin frame computer that operated the GE trainer and the new trainees would go on 12 hour simulated cruises using that trainer to simulate problems the crews might experience…
