  • I was stationed at Naval Station Subic Bay from Dec 1977 to Mar 1979.  I was attached to the fuel barges and oilers near the yard tugs at Boton Pier close to and at the bottom of NAS Cubi Point.  Would like to hear from anyone their at that time.

  • I was stationed at Cubi Pt. from '70 to '72. I was an AME-2, and worked in the parachute loft building. We had our own shop, and serviced all the squadrons with LOX. Lived in Olongapo for 2 years.

  • I was stationed at subic in the Provost Marshall from 82 to 84 and I guess I'm lucky to be alive. What a party!
  •    My first overseas deployment was to Cubi in 1972 with VP-4, though our crew stayed in barracks 4 on the Subic side. We were there when the Newport News was brought in after she blew up a turrent shelling targets in Viet Nam.

Had a lot more of dets and a split deployment at Cubi/Subic over the next eighteen years.

Almost managed to sink a sailboat next to the ships tied up at the seawall on Subic side in 1979.

  • I served two tours in Subic Bay. My first tour was at Cubi Point as an FA working in the Aviation Refuel Division from March '63 to Sept. '65. I returned to USNS Subic Bay on 31 August '68 to 12 August '71 as an EN2 working in the Harbor Patrol Division of Base Security. Spent much of my time off during the day at Paradise Beach in Subic City. Come night time I would hit the clubs in Olongapo. Took many R&R days in Bagio and Manila. Would like to hear from anybody that was there during the '60's and early '70's.
  • I worked at the Naval Magazine, MOMAG Unit 9, and was living in the barracks at Cubi when Pinatubo erupted in 1991. It's a shame the base there closed. Lot's of great memories.

Subic/Olongapo 1990-91

I'm doing some research and would appreciate feedback from those who were station dito at Cubi or SRF in 1990-91. Personally, I was there in the early 80's so much of my recollection is irrelevant for what I am looking for.  1. Bars and hotelsWhat memorable bars and hotels were around at that time? I remember a few from my time, but I'm sure they were long gone. 2. The JungleWas this still a thing in 90-91? Anyone remember bars from there? 3. SR FenceWhen did the fencing go up on the bridge…

I am living in Angeles City and have lived here for about 7 years. There have been many many changes BUT... It's still the same Philippines.Have not been down to Olongapo for about a year. The base is still recognizable as a former U.S. Base but it has been its all commercial now.I even have a friend of mine on the base. He is Japanese American and he runs a company making solenoids. There is almost nothing in Olongapo proper that is fun entertainment wise.Barrio Barretto still has many bars,…
