What is in Subic and Angeles now.

I am living in Angeles City and have lived here for about 7 years.

There have been many many changes BUT... It's still the same Philippines.

Have not been down to Olongapo for about a year.

The base is still recognizable as a former U.S. Base but it has been its all commercial now.

I even have a friend of mine on the base. He is Japanese American and he runs a company making solenoids.

There is almost nothing in Olongapo proper that is fun entertainment wise.

Barrio Barretto still has many bars, restraunts and hotels.

As always quality varies.

  • Hello,  I was thinking maybe a visit back to Subic for a look around. where would you recommend staying?

  • I did two shore tours in Subic Bay. (1982-1986 and 1990-1992) departed a few months before they closed down the bases. Sad leaving. Best liberty port in the entire Navy IMHO.

  • I remember subic bay as a very good watering-hole for very thirsty sailors.Good old San Miguel beer served by beautiful ladies (but weren't they all!)
