  • I crossed on the USS Carperter DD-825, being one of two aviation sailors on board was hard

A good BT2 helt my head under for a while,

  • I first crossed the line in May '69 on the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) bound for Sidney, Australia. We were actually given the opportunity to swim across the line. We entered the sea from the aft starboard elevator and swam to the forward elevator. That was a treat. I crossed the great line on numerous other occasions during my career, but I remember that first time the best. The last was on the USS Bagley (FF10-69) sometime in the late '80s.
