  • I crossed the equator on Oct 24, 1968 at Lat 0000, Long 105-20E. On the USS Decatur DDG-31.
  • I crossed the line on the USS Arneb (AKA-56) on the way to Deep Freeze 63
  • Shellback on Nov 7 , 1966 aboard USS MAZAMA AE-9 on our return from Westpac to homeport in Davisville, RI.
    One memorable event on our world cruise.
  • Became a shellback on 7 Nov. 66 aboard the USS Mazama AE9 NAM tour and continued our Round the World cruise going home to Davisville, RI.
  • Crossed the Equator while on board USS Providence CLG 6 on May 22,1967 @ Longitude 106 Degrees East and again on Nov. 27, 1967 both times south of Singapore.

  • I crossed the line on 19 June 1967, 00 lat. 40 long. while on a west pac cruise aborad the USS FORRESTAL. The night before we crossed, the polywags revolted and captured the few shellbacks that were on the ship. We locked them up, but had to turn them lose.
    We greatly out numbered them but caught hell the next day.
    Do they still do this or is not P.C correct. Hell even the capt. cawrled through the slop chute and kissed the babys belly.
