  • Did the transit onboard the USS Mullinnix (DD-944), with USS America Battle Group, in 1983.  The souther transit was in February and the northern was in May.

  • We transited the Suez Canal during the summer of 1986 on our way to the Gulf, very, very hot!
  • Made four passages (2 round trips to the gulf and back..USS Greenwich Bay. AVP-41) Sandy bottom kept plugging our sea chest filters. diesels were overheating.. not a fun time.
  • Pass through the canal twice once in 1983 and again in 1986, both time on the USS Jack Williams FFG-24; also nick none as the "Happy Jack" by those select few.
  • Made two round trips. Both on the USS Boise (SSN-764). Once in Jan 2002 for 6 month CENTCOM deployment and again in Mar 2003 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Shot 20 missiles from Red Sea into Iraq.
  • Went through in 1986 while on the Truxtun. Part of the Enterprise battlegroup.
  • with VA 85
  • 1983
  • Went thru the suez, twice I think, lol while on the Forrestal for 2 Med cruises 1980-
  • I did the ditch in 1982 onboard USS Forrestal. I talk about the transit in my book and mentioned how all of the aircraft had to have their canopies covered up in what looked like tin foil!
