Served there out of A School from 1977-1979 when it was DATC FMAG PAC then command name change to SIMA. Served in the Foundry 81A and what an experience that was. Lot of great guys
Did two tours at SIMA San Diego. Stationed there from July 1984 to July 1986 as a HT1. Worked in the Pipe Shop (56A), first as the Shop Supply PO and then as a Crew Chief. Played First Base for the Pipe Shop's softball team. Then did my second tour there from Feb. 1992 until I retired in July 1996. Was the Shop Master of the Weld Requal School (Shop 26Z) where I was responsible for the welding requalifications of SIMA assigned welders, and shipboard welders. Also played First Base for the SIMA's Chiefs softball team (Team Motrin), where we went undefeated one season. Not bad for a bunch of old guys! Ended up working in the Hull Repair Office for the last couple of months before I retired.

I was stationed here from mid '77 to Feb 1980 with 81A. A great crew to be with--what an experience.
