    My father Chuck Horton retired the US NAVY as RMCM, 20 years active and 10 years inactive reserve. Retired in 1981 and lives in Panola Texas since 1976.

    Born in Ill...enlisted in 62' ..Basic at Great Lakes...than back there for about a year standing GATE WATCHES....then in 63' got orders to VAH 6 at NAS WHIDBEY Is...64'-65' Med Cruise with USS FORRESTAL...65' opted to get out...BIG MISTAKE

    Joined the Navy September 29, 1969. Did my boot camp at San Diego and went to RM "A" directly after boot. From "A" school I spent my active duty time in Puerto Rico at Navcommsta Puerto Rico. Navcommsta was in San Juan when I first arrived, but I was transferred to Fort Allen in Ponce, Puerto Rico when the commsta was moved to Ft. Allen. After leaving Puerto Rico I was inactive until 1980 when I joined the Naval Reserve. During my stay in the Reserves I was mostly in California up and down the coast from San Diego to San Franciso. While in the Reserves I managed to make RM2. Note that I said RM2. I refuse to be known as an IT person. I started as a Radioman, and I will always be a Radioman at heart.

    Joined Navy in Dallas 1975. SanDiego Company 936 Drum and Bugle Corps. NAS Memphis for AD(J) School. NAS Jacksonville to HS9. Served on USS Nimitz with workups on America and Saratoga. Living in Illinois now.

    I joined the Navy in Sep 1954, went boot in Great Lakes. My duty stations were USS Porterfield DD-682, USS Marshall DD-676, NAS Sanford Florida, USS Turner DDR-834, USS Constellation CVA-64, USS Sperry AS-12, USS Nereus AS-17, USS Calcaterra DER-390, NRS Atlanta, Ga, NRD Atlanta, Ga. Retired in 1975. Drove truck for Wal Mart for 20 Years, then retired to Live Oak, Tx (San Antonio Area in 1988.

    Came in through Tyler Station back in 1978. Retired back in Tyler in 2004

    I enlisted in the Navy in 1980 in Oklahoma City and stayed active until 1992. I got out and moved to my wife's hometown in Kentucky until I moved the family to Texas in 1994. I have been in Malta, Texas (Bowie County) ever since. I just retired from the Texas Army National Guard in April.

    I joined the Navy in May 1970 in Houston and served in until June 1979. While I was in the navy my folks moved to Dayton, Texas. After my discharge I stayed in Ridgecrest Ca at NWC China Lake for 1 1/2 then moved back to Dayton Texas. Where I reside today but will be moving to Spur Texas in a short time.
