  • I was stationed at Rota Spain Dec 1978 Sep 1980 at the Fleet Weather Command across from the runway.  I was a Data Systems 1st class PO and maintained the mainframe computer and peripherals.  I worked with Susie, Debbie and Rick. I played racquetball and drove a Jeep Alpaca Brown Golden Eagle CJ-7 Softop on base.

  • Was stationed at NAVCOMSTA 69 to 72 as an ET at the Receiver Site. Played tackle football for the Rota Admirals where we traveled to bases in Spain, Germany,  & Italy to play. We also won the the first COMFIRMED Championship Trophy after beating the Naples All-Stars at Carney Park in Naples in 1971. Lived in the Gypsie area for awhile and then the Edificio America(top floor). Loved Red Square and going to Cipionna.

  • I was with Supply Dept from Jan 91 -93  Also worked at the Staff Judge Advocate Office for about 6 months before deciding to process out of the Navy.

    Loved Bar Christina in Rota.

  • I was in VQ2 from 1972-1976 really want to visit again.

  • Love Topa Hoppin in Rota

  • The Canopus was the last Tender we closed the site 1979 and went to Charleston.

  • I was there on the USS Canopus she was homeported there. A lot of fun in that little town. There was a resturant out side of Rota that had the best Garlic Fried Chicken.

  • I CAN CERTAINLY RELATE TO HAVING 'SENIOR MOMENTS'. I WAS RM1 AND STATIONED AT ROTA FROM 1958 TO 1961. WINTERED OVER IN MCMURDO SOUND BASE AND WENT DIRECT TO ROTA. I AM SRPRISED NO ONE MENTIONED CADIZ OR SEVILLA. HAD SOME GREAT TIMES IN BOTH CITIES. THERE WAS AOTHER RM1 AT ROTA, WESLEY GLANZ,FROM DALLAS. LOSTGTRACK OF HIM TOO.

  • It was almost 40 years ago, so my memory of the exact years is not too great.  However, I served at ROTA for 2 or 3 USNR deployments while I was in VP64 out of Willow Grove, PA.  These occurred in the period from 1972-77, and it was a real adventure.

  • The American Bar was my favorite pub in Rota, Spain. I enjoyed Cruzcampo and San Miguel beer as well as the usual Rum and Coke. I enjoyed the country music and especially the women.
