  • I wasn't actually driving busses. We got (I believe) Chevy minivans for the Sima transportation. I mainly drove people to different piers and then picked them up for lunch and end of work day.
  • Shuttle bus drivers did have "Skate Duty" Rode the bus alot while living on base before I got married.
  • Hello-I was at SIMA Long Beach from Jan.1986-Nov.1987. I was a sonar tech but worked with the gunners mate and fire control tech doing maintenance on the reserve ships, that is until I injured my knee and was placed on light duty. I was then transfered to transportation and was one of the original shuttle bus drivers when we first got the mini vans.Wow!! Pretty skate duty, but someone had to do it.
  • Yeah he was a total ass. Chief Jackson in Corrison Control was very cool. He retired about a month after my discharge.
