  • Company K110 - 1990NOV   -Hickem-

  • C-140 Jun - Aug 1989.  CC's were BTCM Moxley & AMSC Flora.  We were a ragtag bunch of misfits but we made it through.  Since I left Orlando, I've run into former company mates on occasion, but not very many.

  • Company 072 Building 10 July - Sept 1993 - We were one of the last All-Male companies to graduate after that it was all IO (intergrated companies) Had a blast many memories. I was in the Honor Guard and also one of the Chapel Master at Arms for the Company. FYI, Just took my kids to Disney World and tried to find what was left of RTC, for what it's worth, there is Blue Jacket Park there at Lake Baldwin to commemorate it and those of us lucky enough to know her.

  • Hi Mike. I guess you were in Boot the same time I was. I arrived in December 1976 and left around February 1977. We were Company 106/Division 6. We had two company commanders. Can't recall their names (I'll have to find my copy of the Rudder). I remember that the Divisional Commander was a Lt. Harshman, a fighter pilot.

  • i was in boot camp in orlando nov.76-feb 77 i wish i could remember my company commanders name i want to say it was chief capps any way out company flag was capps worms, it seemed like our company was a bunch of misfits(lol) any way we won a flag it was our c.c. first flag as c.c. anyway on his way home that night he was hit by a women broard sided him on his motorcycle there for he was not able to be at out graduation would like to hear from others from our company (our number was in the 90's)

  • Went to CC119 between March-April 1978. If you look at our Company picture which i will post a picture later, i am the one holding the flag with the 'Olympic" rings since we won the male  sport day competition. Our CC where Po1 Vanostrand and PO1 Cassatta. I might be mispronunciation their names. I always remember Po1 Cassatta, a short and fiery man, good man of Italian descendant from Brooklyn. he would get next to me and say "You know what Latorre, you can become a good sailor. Because if you don't , i am going to send you the hell back to San Juan!"

  • I want to correct our Company Commander's name which was LeRoy A. Schouest GMGC.  We were Company 16 1st Regiment 3rd Battalion.  I still have our Rudder which says we commenced training 5 November 1968 and completed training 24 January 1969.  I don't remember us paying too much attention to which regiment and battalion we were in. Our barracks had never been occupied and we spent the entire afternoon on our first day on our hands and knees, in our civvies, with a can of cleanser, a 2 inch square piece of cloth and a toothbrush cleaning the floor of a newly constructed barracks which had heel marks etc. from the workmen.

  • Company 016 11/68-01/69.  Company 001 was still in boot when when I came aboard.  Our company commander was Gunner's Mate Chief Schuest.  The group I was with took a train down from Columbia, SC because a coastal hurricane had closed Columbia (CAE) airport.  After emptying a local Columbia  diner of all the beer in their cooler 16 of us were poured off the train at about 0600 and there was no one to greet us.  We were in a nearby diner getting breakfast when the RTC bus driver found us and took us off to our 11 week adventure.  We got Christmas leave instead of boot leave so we were there for 13 weeks.  The coldest hours of my life were spent on the grinder before, and after, morning chow when the January day time high was forecast in the upper 60s making the Uniform of the Day dungarees but the 0530 temp was in the mid-teens.

I spent a weekend in the old base hospital with cellulitis after tennies created impacted blisters.  No problems after we got into boondockers.

    Quite an experience!

    David

  • I am from company c205 August- September 1989. Where's everyone at? :-D

  • Dec 76-to Mar 77.

Co 132 Gilmore's Turkeys.  Cpo Gilmore.
