Read more…hi, I'm looking for my chief. His name is chief Chandler, we were in W-4 division. I worked for him during the yrs. 72-74.I been trying different things to find him I thought maybe during your travells on the Orion you may have bump into him.He's the one person that took me under his wing and taught me about life.I was a young and wild kid and he helped me alot.Now I wish I could just thank him.If you know anything please let me know thanks

looking for shipmates that were on board 1977 time frame myself and others were in deck berthing ripping out the lagging in berthing area any way was full of asbestoes never put in my medical record ive now have severe case of c.o.p.d. and on oxygen looking for help on my v.a. claim.
was my first ship 77-79 when i checked on board they put me down in supply berthing cause there were not racks in deck berthing every morn at 6am i see and hear people getting up changing inti civ cloths, i said dame let me get a shower and head out long story short i did same thing every day for a month before deck department knew i was on board, 21 yrs later i ret, oh iam still in the charleston area.

The ORION was my first ship. 1984 to 1986. This was a great start to my navy days.
I was stationed on the USS Orion in 1993 to ride it back from La Maddalena Italy for decommissioning. I was a DC-man assigned as an oil wiper with a lot of good people including now Masterchief DC-man Orlin Volmer.
I was on Orion from may 63- feb 66 I after 6 mo. of mess cook duty in chiefs mess I worked in the foundry, spent my entire tour of duty on orion, left as ML3, am looking for a couple of buddys, moulder K T Ross, storekeeper Willy Driggs, lots of good memories on that ship
