  • I remember as we passed through the Panama Canal hearing all kinds of screeching metal sounds as the sides of the ship rubbed up against the sides of the canal. The First Lieutenant was freaking out, screaming at the canal operators on shore... understandably. But there wasn't much to be done. A few other guys and I pulled out some folding chairs and sat on deck near the plaque and watched him run up and down the side of the ship yelling at people. He gave us a good stare a few times, so we cut out... got out of the line of fire and hung out up at the starboard whale boat.

Some of the drainage pipes on the side of the ship where twisted and there was a lot of painting after we cleared the canal.
  • I got a letter that there's a 1984-1989 crew reunion in 2011. I'm planning attend, take the wife to Hawaii for the reunion, tour the Mo and show her around, the places I worked, etc.
  • Yea, I was in 5th Division... that's probably the case.

One of my best friends aboard the Mo caught up with me about a month ago, it was great to hear from him. My other best friend was Gordan Sieber. Gordon passed away in 2006. He and I would hangout around Venice Beach and throw back beers in the ports. We kept in touch off and on over the years after the Mo. Really cool guy.
