Judy Garland, that was back in the day when the celebs did things like that because they supported the military and the government! Now I think it is more of a case they just want the publicity. I am sure they still do the USO shows, we just do not hear about it. Bob Hope had to be the all time number one troop entertainer! He did those shows for 40 or 50 years.
Just the mention of Judy Garland brings back memories of the old movies. I love the oldies, especially the Christmas ones and of course anything John Wayne, Abbott and Costello, Marx Brothers. I remember back when I was a kid - once a year the Wizard of Oz was on tv, that was a big night - popcorn - coca cola - and other various forms of junk food.
By the way you got out of the Navy the day after I turned 16:)
