  • Thanks anyway.  I knew it was a longshot because I know a lot of Beardens in Alabama.  Plus it was a long time ago.

  • Welcome Aboard Kevin.  Just wondering if you are related to someone I knew back in boot camp Company 311 in 1960.  His last name was (is) Bearden and he was from Northeast Alabama.  We made the trip to RTC San Diego together on a train, which kept missing the connections we needed.  I think we were at least two days late.  AWOL before we really got started.  He was our company's swim PO.  I came down with a throat infection that hospitalized me and put me back into another company.  We kept in touch until he completed boot camp two weeks ahead of me.

  • Aloha Kevin, I hope you remember me for your past. We were stationed together at NavCamsEastPac. I was the tall skinny Mexican kid that was buddies with Dave (fireball) Sherman. We used to party at your place in Mililani. I was surfing some military websites and came across this one and saw your name and pictures. After my tour in the Navy, I came home and joined the Reserves for a couple of years and decided to come back into the military, this time joining the Air Force. I did my sixteen in the USAF and retired. I am now working with Comcast as a service tech. I have been married for 34 years, got two kids and a new grand daughter. Life is good, we live in Everett Wa just north of Seattle and enjoy our lives in the Pacific Northwest. I hope you and your family are doing great and hope to hear from you.

  • Welcome aboard! May you have Fair Winds and Following Seas. I remember those combo caps for enlisteds - never knew they were worn with dungarees. Which actually looked better then with winter blues (the black shirt and tie) with a dixie cup. The dixie cup belongs with a jumper uniform!
