  • Yes indeed..  it was the right time to be an American in Morocco,,  In some of my travels I was in a traffic accident in the Atlas Mountains near Agadier (sp) on our way to down Marikesh (sp) , after the official reports were done the Police of the city had their famielys bring in all their dinner food dishes to the station and together we had a big feast in the court yard of the police station.  there was about 8 officers , their familes and 5 in my party.. quite a memory for me.  Memories from the base you may also recal was that we constructed a new 750KW generator unit at the power plant just inside the gate on your left.  It was 10 hour days which went from 10 at night till 10 in the morning due to the heat.  it took us about 3 months of ball-busting work.  We got a letter of accomadation for the efforts.  You may have noticed that really big engine sitting out in the weather.
  • Hi Bill... Looks like we were there during the same time..  did you live in town on the economy or on base?   Most of my off duty time was spent down in Kinetra.  I was into Motorcycles and found several around the area and restored a couple.of them in my villa on the hill.  did a lot of traveling around the country with gas at only 16 cents a gallon those were truly the good old days.  Have some really great memories from those years.
