  • Ahoy there Jim, I glad to hear that you are a member of the Veteran crew on the USS Slater. I remenber when she was docked at the USS Intrepid museum. She needed alot of restoration work, but today she is remarkable condition. What a beatiful job your crew did. You should stand proud !  I would !  I also just got home from a field day obnboard the USS Intrepid with about 10 other members of the Tin Can Sailors... It was a good day !  Gotta sign off for now, and it is great to hear from you !   Rich

  • Well, Ahoy there Richard! I am a member of the veteran crew on the USS Slater in Albany. Plus, there are a couple of other things going on that you need to know about! I was on board the Salem just a few weeks ago. I have to say that there is a lot of work to be done on that ship! It's a damn shame the way she has been allowed to deteriorate. I'll send you a friend invite. We have to talk!

  • Ahoy Jim, we are members of the Tin Can Sailor organization (former U.S. Navy enlisted) that volunteer to aid in the restoration of U.S. Navy museum ships. Currently, we volunteer in the restoration of the USS Intrepid in New York City, USS The Sullivans in Buffalo, New York, and USS Salem in Quincy, Mass. We provide all types of services such as plumbing, electrical, grinding, priming, and painting, and whatever else the ship requires to keep her in 4.0 condition for the public viewing.  Rich

  • Looks like we may need to get you guys some more utility shirts! There appear to be a couple of guys above decks out of uniform!
