My recruit chit book from NTC-RTC San Diego, December 1970. It still has an unused 35 cent haircut chit inside and no expiration date on the cover. Initially recruits were given these books to sustain them until their first pay day. ( I seem to recall that we received $20 per month during boot camp.) There were various denominations and service chits inside.
