  • Hi James, sorry for taking so long to get back to you,  Yes you are correct but i was also using my black body Canon A1

Served on the USS Prairie AD-15, and USS Anchorage LSD-36 as ship's Photographer

I was a Ship's Serviceman, but the Captain on the prairie liked my work so much that he offered me the opportunity to transfer to R-5 Division Photo Lab and i accepted.

Of course the supply office was not happy about that at all nor was Chief Brents who by the way screwed my opportunity to make Chief

  • So Jerry, in your profile photo looks like a Mamiya C33 Pro with an 80 mm lens. I still have mine and after I got out of the Navy I used it to make a living shooting weddings and other stuff. I still have my 200 mm and a 28mm lens to go with it along with the Porroflex prism and some other stuff.  Got mine in Yokosuka I think.  Harder to find film now days.  haha I was on USS Constellation too back in those days. Had been on USS Americafor a Med cruse earlier. Left active Navy to go back to school in August of 69.  Worked my way through college working for the Daytona Beach News Journal in Florida and doing freelance on the side. 3439414390?profile=originalAdded a photo from around mid 68 of me on the left and Alain Boniec who became a photog for Disney in Orlando in late 89 or 70,  Alain and I along with Allen Frantz are still in contact with each other on a regular basis. All of us are here on the Navy Veterans website.

Anyway, just thought I would say hi.  73 om, Jay
