  • When I was stationed there in P'cola they would tell us when the Blue Angles got airborne from the runway in P'cola it would take them 72 sec. to get over Cuba. From what I saw and felt when riding shotgun I believe it.
  • One of my favorite birds. What a sight even at rest! During my attendance at the 'Monster Bash' Halloween Party on the USS Hornet, I saw they acquired an F-4 for display. They also had an S-3 Viking but that is for another topic.

    Nice Picture!
  • I agree. The F-4 is an awesome machine. Equipped with a pair of J-79's with afterburners, it's probably like a rocket ride to the wild blue yonder! Although back then, we (A6 community) refered to them as "go fast and do nothings", I would've loved a ride in one. I took a cat shot once, I believe it was a COD, but as soon as you leave the deck, the ride drastically ends. I would imagine, if in a Phantom, the ride just gets better.
  • Al, There's just something about F-4, just makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Got to ride shotgun in one of the Blue Angles F-4' s. They would scoot in there days.
