My tour aboard Dixie was good to me. Survived the paper work and a FRAM overhaul in Long Beach, witnessed the conversion of the ship from black oil boiler fuel to JP5, made one WestPac cruise, recommended for and advanced to Senior Chief first time before the board ( frocked, but appointed permanent a month after transfer from Dixie ), and left the ship as Command 3M Coordinator.
