USS New Orleans (LPH-11) was an Iwo Jima-class amphibious assault ship in the United States Navy. She was the third Navy ship to be so named, and is the first named for the Battle of New Orleans.

    Good Day Shipmates. I served on The USS New Orleans LPH 11 from Jun, 1972 until Oct, 1973. I was assigned to V-1 Division. Did the 72/73 WESPAC and Operation End Sweep. Great Ship, I truly enjoyed my Tour on-board.

    When New Orleans went into decom, I was the choice of either getting out or extending my enlistment. I guess you could say we both left active duty together...3439408567?profile=original

    Can't believe they sunk her. Was also on the Anchorage which they sunk in the same sinkex.
