USS Markab (AD-21) was a Hamul-class destroyer tender named for Markab, the third-brightest star in the constellation Pegasus. Acquired by the United States Navy on 2 June 1941 at Charleston, South Carolina; commissioned on 15 June 1941.

My father, Joshua Cloud, was a BT on the U.S.S. Markab. I beleive he served '59-'65.

Came aboard the USS Markab early one morning that turned into a memorable day. It was the same day the President John F Kennedy was assassinated. Watch it all happen from the door of First Class mess on their TV. Then later I watch Oswald killed by Jack Ruby the same way. The rest of my time on the Markab was not that way. Great ship and crew
