  My first ship out of Bootcamp/RM "A" School I was on it during it's final year. I can still remember the theme song "Highway to Hell"

  Gus' boat was my first ship out of boot camp in 1970. She still holds a special place in my thoughts and heart. I served in her under probably my most favorite commanding officer, Cdr. Shaffer. He was (is) so down to earth and even though I was a lowly E-2/3, he treated everyone with respect but there was no question who was the CO.
