USS McCloy (FF-1038) was the second and final Bronstein-class frigate. Commissioned as a destroyer escort, the McCloy was redesignated as frigate on 30 June 1975.

The McCloy was more of a submarine than a surface ship, diving under even the smallest of swells. The sonar dome would rise out of the ocean only to crash back and make the mast shudder - breaking off the top 25 feet while returning from one Med deployment.
