    KIRK was my first duty assignment after graduating from the Naval Academy. I was the EMO from February 1983 until Dec when I was reassigned to CONUS due to family medical issues. The CO was Ed Pratt (E.L. Pratt), one of the best COs I ever had.

    Worked on some of these ships when stationed at SIMA/NRMF Long Beach in the late 80's.  Replaceing Lagging and rebuilding pumps
