I was a GMT2 and visited for an inspection in 1968. Got to see the 'sights, including Olongapo, a nighttime bus from Clark AB through the jungle to the transient barracks which was open to the outside where monkeys greeted us at dawn. I was newly married so as I was on good behavior, declining the usual nightlife temptations ! A great trip and all I brought back to Atsugi was a wood carving. -:)
Stationed there 1960 to late 61 or early 62. Arrived as a MN2 departed as a MN2. Went back on vacation to visit 09/2010 and was surprised that there were still some things there I remembered. Good Duty. Philippine food, in fact Asian food is so darn good.
