Arrived at Boot Camp on the evening of 23 APR 1980 after my first airplane flight from Chicago. After we were all ushered into a building, we were then instructed to fill out a questionaire about our previous "talents" like musical ability. I played the trombone and baritone in middle and high school, so I put that on the form. Next thing they did was name off about 70 of us and said we were all being placed in a drill company (919) and that our CC was to be IC2 Drummond. I really enjoyed being in a drill company. We practiced in the old WW2 barracks section during service week and then we started marching along with our instruments. We got to perform at the Southern California State Fair and at the SC State Womens Soft Ball Championships. Our favorite songs to play were the Budweiser Theme and the Theme to Rocky.
