We never had so much safety equipment to light off the boiler. Torch made of asbestos on metal rod, soaked in JP-5. Light it with your Zippo. Open the door, stuff it in the fire box, open the oil valve and air control, BOOM!!! making steam!!!! a very exciting moment.

You got that right Brother!! EOOW watch'n and all!! My dad worked at Dupont 26 yrs., bought him on for a Tiger crusie. He said " Daddy Dupont would shut us down!!" But, he's former Navy himself, so he know's!BT3RK
