  • I remember VS26.

I was wondering what happened to VS36 and now I know.

I was an AT3 assigned to the Aircrew Division and the radio shop when I left in March, 1957.

If there is anybody out there who was with VS36 from 1955 to 1957?

  • I was an AZ3 and transfered in 12/63 until my discharge in late August of 04. I started as an ADR trained in Memphis and from there to VW-13 in Argentia, NFLD where I started working in logs and records hence change in rating to AZ. I was back in Norfolk a couple of years ago to visit with a retired Master Chief from VW-13 and he took me on a tour of the base. Our old hanger was in the process of being torn down when I was there, kind of sad. You know there is a VS-26 & 36 reunion late this summer. I cannont attend as my son is getting married. If your of interest you can find some info on Military.com. Thanks for touching base.
  • VS-26 was a split off from VS-36 and began in late 1959 or 1960 ( I don't remember the exact date) and we original members simply moved our butts and supplies from the left side of the hanger at NAS Norfolk to the right side. We also deployed on the USS Randolph with our old VS-36 group and basically operated pretty much like one unit. I'm sure after I left in 61 that they eventually went their own way. I was an ATR3 and an aircrewman. Was a fun and educational tour of duty.
