"Thanks for touching base with the Navy vets on this site. Perhaps you could elaborate on what it takes to go from E-1 to 0-4, and the dedication it requires."

"Arrived RTC Orlando Dec 28, 1971. Assigned to Company C003, CC SKC Groom. Wanting to get in touch with any other members of that company and to locate a copy of the Rudder for C003 as well. Retired June 1993, LCDR Mustang."

Searching for RTC Orlando Cruise Book

Is there anyone aboard who has or who can tell me how to obtain a copy of the RTC Orlando Rudder for Company C003, December 1971 to February 1972? Mine was destroyed a few years ago and i've been searching for a copy since then with no luck.

I spent a long time in the Navy. First cruise was aboard the Savannah, Gulf of Tonkin. Other side of the world for a farm boy who had never been more than 100 miles from home before entering the Navy. Never thought at first I'd make a career of it, but during my first enlistment, my brother was killed and the Navy flew me home for his burial, then paid my way back to my command. The Navy proved to me it takes care of its own so I stayed in. Made CPO while on the Saratoga and had applied for and got picked up for LDO, Submarine Repair. I loved it!  Serving on tenders and spending a couple years in Hawaii as CSS-7 SRA Coordinator. I guess that gave me my best memories, repairing submarines. Retired from the McKee in 1993. Nearing 60 now but i'd go back to sea in a heartbeat!
