Thank you for the welcome Emmet.  I appreciate it.  Rota was a very good duty station.  My wife and I were active in the Boosters Club supporting the school.  I usually did sliders and she worked in the trailer fixing up hotdogs, etc.  I often think of the setups for the various events and how hungry the Marines were when the 'gator freighters' came into port.  The grills we used (barrel halves) could accommodate 96 sliders at a whack and sometimes we'd sell out a whole grill full to just four or five guys.  Couldn't keep up with the demand the first day or so after those guys came in.  Thanks again for the welcome.  Jim

Thank you for the welcome.  I am interested in shipmates that attended hospital corps school from Nov. 1965 to March 1966.  Also, interested in shipmates that were stationed @ Annapolis Naval Hospital from March 1966 - July 1967 & Wash., D.C. from Aug. thru Nov. 1967.

Emmet, Qtr's K was my 1st Duty Station after Boot Camp. Reported Feb 58 for one year.

Reported as a FN and changed to SN and became a CS Striker. I went on to make the Navy a career and retired as a CWO4 Supply Warrant Officer. I had a great career. Then worked Navy and Army Civil Service with 2yrs in Sigonella, Sicily and 11 in Germany, what a ride!!!

Hello, My dad is the actual Navy Veteran. I lost him in 2013. He was on the USS BON HOMME CVA- 31 from Dec. 55 to Feb 59. I joined this group to find possible surviving friends of his. I know he was in Japan also. I have looked up his ship. Saw actual footage on YouTube. I desire to travel to California some day & cross the Golden Gate bridge because he went under it on his ship. He was stationed RECSTA, T. I., Sanfransico, California.
