Need information

Hey everyone and Happy Thanksgiving. I'm new to this and am putting together a display case for my wife. Her uncle was in the Navy for 20 years and past away in 1984. His wife moved away from our area and we lost contact with her. We found an address for her and learned that she past about a year ago. Her neice said her husband destroyed all of his military papers and she sent us a couple of his medals. I was able to over the internet request a copy of his dd-214 papers. I was hoping someone… Continue

I've already pointed out, that I suffer from an affliction, Lackofturkeyitis, that will be remedied today. Sadly, I remember previous Thanksgivings and can say truthfully, I am thankful to have survived those Thanksgiving day pasts and continue to drool.........oops, look forward to the next ones.

Many years ago, a girl that I was seeing, insisted on preparing our dinner. The poor gal had to read directions on how to boil water. But, I give her credit, she tried, bless her heart. Her… Continue

Navy Seals on Charges? You Got To Be Kidding

Here I am in DC at the Navy Lodge this morning and I turn on the TV to find that three Navy Seals have requested a Courts Matial because they are under charges for giving a terrorist a bloody lip. Never mind that this particular piece of excrement was allegedly responsible for the deaths of four Black Water security men. If this is true then maybe they should have ripped the guys lips off. Please tell me they were charged for being too gentle with this particular murdering scum bag. If they are… Continue

Cruise Book USS BOSTON

Went to the web site, "Ancestry.Com", and found my crise books for USS BOSTON CAG-1. What a great trip back in time to some fantastic memories. Was able to share with my wife. Those memories seem to never fade, and they are truly priceless. Thanks to Navy Veterans for directing me to this site. And again, thanks to Ancestry.Com - Military Records for reviving such beautiful memories.

A Happy Veteran's Day............NOT!!!

I took my wife to dinner on Veteran's Day evening, to the Outback Restaurant on NE Choteau Trafficway, in Kansas City, Mo. Nothing special except to have dinner. We were informed that in celebration of Veteran's Day, ALL vets were to receive a "blooming onion" & either a soft drink or beer, free, as was advertised on TV. I was asked if I was a vet & responded that I was (having served in the USN for 10 1/2 years). Stipulation was, I had to prove it, being a vet no longer serving. Having… Continue

My Navy Career

My naval career started 3 November 1965 when I reported to RTC Great Lakes, IL for boot camp and ended 1 October 1969 when I was honorably discharged at NAS Cecil Field, FL.

My Navy career entailed attending the Navy Aviation Machinist Mate “A” School at NATTC Memphis/Millington. I graduated June 1966 and was given orders to report to Attack Squadron VA-172 Blue Bolts stationed at NAS Cecil Field Jacksonville, FL. The squadron flew Douglas A-4C Skyhawk aircraft.

While a… Continue

What is a Veteran

Some veterans bear visible signs of their service...a missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye.

Others may carry the evidence inside them...a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg...or perhaps another sort of inner steel... the soul's ally forged in the refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem.

You can't tell a vet just by looking. What is a… Continue

Islamic Terrorists Strike Our Homeland Again at Fort Hood

Why isn't this the news heading?

I don't give a crap if the killer in question was an Army Officer nor whether or not he was American. This Islamic Terrorist screamed the takbir and commenced to killing as many unarmed Americans as he could.

That's terrorism.

It happened here.

If this country had a single Christian shoot and kill someone in the name of God, we'd… Continue

Veteran's Day, 2009

Well, my brothers and sisters, we have another Veteran's Day upon us. I know this because the special sales ads have already started, on TV and the radio. Billboards are even getting their facelift, with those special deals that we've gone without until this holiday.

Personally, I don't know how I ever existed before the advent of using holidays like Veteran's Day and Memorial Day, and oh yeah, let's not forget the 4th of July, for selling clothes, cars, appliances, and groceries.… Continue
